Privacy Policy

Spot2 helps you decide where to eat and drink. We built it to work with as little of your
data as possible. This page explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Approximate activity data — anonymous usage events (e.g. that a search happened, a
place was saved or visited) tied to a random device identifier, never to your name, email or
phone number. We use this to understand how the app is used and improve it.
- Your first name — optional, stored on your device, used only so the in-app assistant
can address you. It is sent with assistant requests but never stored on our servers.
- Location — used on-device and sent to our server only to search for venues near you.
We do not keep a history of your location. If you decline location access you can pick a city
instead.
- Taste preferences, saved lists and visits — stored on your device. Anonymous copies
of swipe and visit events (device identifier only) help us improve recommendations.
- Push token — only if you opt in to the weekly digest; used solely to send that
notification. Opting out deletes it.
What we never collect
No account is required. We do not collect your name (beyond the optional first name above),
email, contacts, photos, or precise location history. We do not sell your data or share it
with data brokers.
Advertising & tracking
Spot2 may show offers or ads in future. On iOS we will only ever access the advertising
identifier if you explicitly allow it via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — and
declining never limits any feature. Until ads exist, the identifier isn't used at all.
Third-party services
- Google Places supplies venue information and photos; venue searches send coordinates
(not your identity) to Google via our server.
- Anthropic Claude powers the assistant; your typed requests and relevant venue data
are processed to generate replies and are handled under Anthropic's commercial API terms (not
used to train models).
- Supabase hosts our backend and database.
- Links to OpenTable, Uber, TikTok, Instagram, X and YouTube open those services;
their own privacy policies apply once you leave Spot2.
Group votes
If you share a voting link, the places on that list and the first names voters type are
visible to anyone with the link for up to 48 hours.
Data retention & deletion
Anonymous events are kept for product analytics. Everything personal lives on your device —
deleting the app deletes it. To remove your digest registration or ask anything else, email
dan@onicogroup.com.
Changes
We'll update this page if our practices change.
